What Is GPT? How To Find And Profit From “Get Paid To” Programs
“Get Paid Programs”
refer to those programs which pay you to do a variety of tasks such as, surf, read eamils, click links, fill out surveys, refer people, and post at forums. Often these programs are referred to with the 3 letter abbrevation “GPT”. Many of these programs promise their members riches for just sitting home on their computer doing a few simple and often mindless tasks. However, these programs usually will not make you rich. Having said this, if you are out to make a few extra bucks a day in your free time, then maybe GPT programs are for you.
Types of GPT Programs:
- Paid-To-Click (PTC) is a section where there are banners and text ads. Sites usually have separate areas for cash PTC and point PTC. Clicking on banners and text ads in the PTC area will increase your point and cash earning, thus taking you closer to the minimum payout set by the site.
- Paid-To-Promote, commonly known as PTP is another way a member can earn. Not all sites offer the PTP feature. If the site offers PTP, it will be on the homepage of the site. Usually it would mention “67c/1000 credits” or “50c/1000 credits” etc. Please refer separate post regarding PTP and how to use them.
- Manual Surf – Some programs have manual surf for cash and/or points. When you go to the manual surf area, you will the manual surf link assigned to you. When you click on it, you will be taken to a page where you need to visit the pages advertised. Manual surf pages have timers as well. When the count down is over, the program will ask you to click on a matching number, colour or sign which will take you to the next page. You need to click on the correct number, colour or sign. Once you do that, you will get credited for your visit and also take you to the next advertised page. Sometimes you will see the notice “there are no more pages to visit”, which means that you have visited all the sites advertised in the manual surf for that day. You can once again surf the next day.
- Paid-To-Search – some sites have a section called paid-to-search where a member is paid points or cash for making searches. When you come to this area, please make sure to read any note the Program Owner may have put up. Some programs require the member to be from a search friendly country (search friendly countries are listed in a separate post). If the Program Owner has a notice requesting only members from search friendly countries to use that section and if you are not from a search friendly country, I would not recommend you to use that section. The reason is that the Program Owner can delete you for “cheating”.
- Contest PTC – Some sites have a contest PTC area. Here, you may not receive any cash or points for clicking on the banners or text links immediately, but you may stand a chance of winning cash or points if you are selected as a contest winner.
Most of these programs rely on members getting referral downlines. Those who do not get downlines can still earn money, but at the rates of $0.001 – $0.20 per action, it is not easy to rack up those bucks. The power to earn is mostly in what we call referral downlines. A downline is sort of like a family tree, with you being the originator of the family. You may refer 5 peoples (just like if you were to have 5 children). These 5 children may refer 5 people each (They each have 5 children, so now you have 25 grandchildren). These 25 people may each also refer 5 people (now you have 25X5 = 125 great grandchildren in this 3 level downline). What makes this so powerful is that you will get rewarded a % of all your childrens, grandchildrens, and great grandchildrens earnings. If you find just a few large promoters to register under yourself then you will make out quite well.
Now-a-days not many people earn more then $100-$200 a month in GPT programs. It takes a lot of time and can become quite boring. If you enjoy sitting at your computer several hours a day clicking links, reading emails, or filling out surveys about things you couldn’t care less about, in order to earn maybe a buck or 2 a day then you should give it a try. If you are looking to start a career or replace an offline job, then this is the wrong area to do so in.
Where should I look to find these programs?
Like I mentioned above, the “Get Paid to” industry is changing constantly. This makes it very difficult to develop any sort of strategy that works on a consistent basis. Since this industry relies heavily on recruitment of others, it makes sense to look for new programs that do not have a large member base. The less people in the program at the
time you signup, the more people you have a chance of recruiting.
Things to look at before joinging a GPT Program:
- An important thing to do before joining a program is to determine if the program is self sustainable. If they seem to be offering more money then they take in then ultimately it will collapse, thus causing you to waste a great deal of your time for nothing. Look at the rates they charge for advertising, and then determine if these rates are higher then what they offer the members to view these ads. If they are, then the program is self sustainable.
- Next check to see if the number of members the site claims to have is correct. To do this, just use your judgment. If a program launched yesterday, claims to have 2,000 members today, then more then likely they are lying. If a program is not even ranked in Alexa but claims to have thousands of members, then they are also lying. If they are lying to their members and advertisers about member count, then they will more then likelylie to you when it comes time to pay you as well.
- Check the minimum payout amount. If a program has a mimimum payout of $100.00 then its probably not worth joining. You will need to work your butt off for months just to see if the program actually pays. You don’t want to invest your time in somethign that keeps you waiting to see if they are legit.
Some of best places to look for new programs and Information are below:
- http://getpaidforum.com – This forum is dedicated to GOT programs. Back a few years ago this forum was busy as anything, but as the GPT arena has died down, so has the forum. Look for new posts and jump into the programs quickly so that you can refer your friends before they get in.

Warnings:
Just like any other money making area, the GPT industry is filled with scammers. Be on the lookout for programs which offer payouts which are too good to be true, and don’t waste all your time with just one program. In this industry many programs are here today and gone tommorow. If you don’t diversify your work with these programs, the one that you have spent hours a day on for months may disappear overnight leaving you at a total loss.
